On my third mug of coffee. I’ve done some journalling, and more importantly, I got out of my chair and gave the lawn a light mowing. I was careful to trim only the top, as it certainly hasn’t recovered from the dry July and August weather.
OK, gardening done. Beans cleared up, rogue tomatoes staked up and dead foliage in the garden waste bin. Now, we’re enjoying a glass of wine or two. Julian Faulkner’s Côtes de Provence Rosé 2025. Ideally would be good with a crab salad, but we don’t have that to hand, so we’re eating home-grown strawberries and some cornish cheese instead.
It’s a lazy Sunday morning here. I’ve been awake since about 6.30 am, but I made coffee and took it back to bed. I read some stuff on my iPad, and then I got up and made more coffee. Not had breakfast yet, as I can’t eat first thing
A question: What’s the secret to making perfectly poached eggs? For me, perfect is a runny yolk and a solid white- no snot.
Just got these from my garden.
It’s a lovely warm sunny afternoon. Moved to the garden with my MacBook. SOme cheese and salad and a bottle of 2022 Zinfandel to imbibe.

When corporates pay their staff shit wages, and these staff then have to get Government top-ups, we, the taxpayers, are funding these corporates’ profits. So the millionaires become billionaires, and the workers making them that money get poorer.
Meanwhile, the likes of Reform UK bleat that benefit scroungers are costing a huge amount of money, but a large share of that money is the subsidy to corporate profits I mentioned in my last post. Many people getting Government top-ups are hard-working, not sitting about doing nothing all day.
I was sitting in the garden, busy reading and writing on my MacBook. I realised that the sun was going down, but I got engrossed in what I was doing, and when I looked up, it was completely dark. I miss the long light summer evenings already!

6 am. Monday morning. No alarm today. The best type of Mondays.
I woke up early, made coffee, took it back to bed, and read blogs on my iPad for a while. It’s a nice sunny morning here, and the temperature is climbing too, so it should be a pleasant, warm afternoon.
I often read about how people are stuck in their teenage years when it comes to music. Well, I like all kinds of music, and right now I’m listening to Ben Webster & Associates’ 1959 session recording. I’ve not heard it before, and it’s the year I was born. I’m always interested in new music - new to me or new recordings, that is…
So many people, stuck in their phones, in their virtual worlds, who miss the real world going by them… I think it’s sad.
10 am. Just sat down at my computer desk. It’s a bright, sunny morning, already warming up out there. It’s looking like another lovely afternoon. I have a dental appointment at 11.20 today. Just a routine check-up, but they’ll try to sell me a private hygienist session for almost £100.
That’s the dentist done for another six months. It takes me longer to walk there and back than the time I spend in the chair! It’s only a five-minute walk each way, too. Apparently my teeth are fine; it’s my gums that have got to come out. No, only joking; everything was fine. I’m just £27.90 poorer.

This Afternoon’s Listening: A Trance Mix
Went to bed late (for me) last evening around 11 pm. Then couldn’t sleep until after midnight. Woke around 5 am, went back to sleep until 7 am. I was going to get up, but went back to sleep again and didn’t wake until nine. I never usually sleep that late, but I guess my body needed to catch up!
My Mac Mini decided to act up. The Roon server wouldn’t start, so I did my usual routine. After some simple checks, I rebooted. That’s when the trouble started, and it got stuck in a never-ending login loop. In the end, I wiped the drive, did a full reinstall, and then Time Machine did the rest.
It seems the 27.2 public beta is being a bad boy on my M4 Pro Mac Mini. I tried it again, as I thought it might just be a glitch with the upgrade, but it ended up the same - an endless login loop. Reported to Apple. Has anyone else with a similar Mac had issues like this?
On my second large mug of coffee. Made one for my wife, but it always goes cold - she doesn’t get up until lunchtime!

Did some clearing out of the vegetable patch, and getting ready for the autumn. Better to do it now, while it’s dry and sunny, than leave it to a deary, dark damp afternoon in November!
I’ve just ordered some winter cabbage seeds. 5 different varietes. They’ll be here on Sunday, so can get them into seed trays, and get them started indoors, before I plant them outside. I have some frost protecetion if needed, and I should have cabbages from about February and on into spring.
Last year (2025) We were walking by the Royal Albert Hall, and saw that the Grand Ole Opry 100th Anniversary Concert was on. We didn’t get to go at such short notice, but this evening, we wathced it on the TV as the BBC were there and it was available on the iPlayer.
