Music
You Can’t Hurry Love - Phil Collins. This was the track that started it all. The first track on the first album of ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ back in 1983. This year (2026) saw the release of Volume 124.
This morning’s listening: Josh Wink - When A Banana Was Just A Banana
Some lunchtime jazz for Qobuz Subscribers…
It doesn’t seem 49 years ago today that Elvis died at the age of 42. He’d have been 91 now if still alive.
I don’t often listen to the radio these days, but I’m tuned into one of my favourites right now: WCOO 105.5 The Bridge, from Charleston, SC, USA.
Having worked late shifts for the past week or so, I haven’t had the opportunity to have one single refreshing beer. However, I’m just rectifying that right now, as I’ve just opened a bottle of Fuller’s London Pride. I was going to the local, but I had a few things to do indoors, and I’m looking to have a few ales at the pub this evening, with Vinyl Night.
That was fun, sorting out some 45s for Vinyl Night this evening. 9 records. A real mix. Everly Bros, Mink DeVille, Kim Weston, Free, The Fortunes, Pecy Faith, Paul Evans, England Dan & John Ford Coley, and ELO.
First of two days off. I got up late again after catching up on some sleep. This evening is Vinyl Night at the Mason’s Arms, but Kathy has an evening dental appointment now, which has thrown a spanner in the works a bit. We shall see how it all pans out. More important to get her toothache sorted!
In the mood for some relaxing tunes before getting ready for work in a couple of hours. Fired up Roon and am playing some Coleman Hawkins from my digital audio collection
